On Ambiguity Phenomenon in English Ambiguity is a very common phenomenon existing all the time in language. During the process of learning English, people often encounter the phenomenon of ambiguity, or encounter problems caused by ambiguity. Studying ambiguity and its causes in English can not only help people to avoid ambiguity so that people can have a more profound understanding on the English language itself, but also can make full use of ambiguity for people to service people, create unexpected effects. As a result, graspingthe ambiguity of the English languageand its causes can help people improve their English language abilities and interpersonal skills, at the same time, contribute to the development of linguistic theory. But what is this ambiguity? Ambiguity refers to the phenomenon of languages according to the grammatical rules and following the sentences with the logic of common sense containing two or more interpretations. To understand this definition, let us look at the following examples: Example 1:John drove to the bank. Example 2:They saw her duck. Both of the example 1 and example 2 are sentences with ambiguity. The former is caused byhomonymy phenomenon while the latter is caused by the different understandings in syntactic construction: For example 1, if “duck” was considered as indefinite form without “to” and this definite form is theobject of “her”. As a result, the meaning of the sentence changes into “They saw her move her head down quickly.” For example 2, if duck was considered into the direct object of “saw”, then the word “duck” changes into noun with the meaning of “They saw her duck”. Through the example 1and example 2, we can easily find that even though they are both ambiguous sentences, but the causes of the formation of ambiguity are in different ways. Example 1 is a vocabulary level of ambiguity (Lexical Ambiguities), while Example 2 is a syntactic level of ambiguity (Syntactic Ambiguities), and that the two levels of ambiguity is the main reason forambiguity. 选题注意事项：
1，选你自己感兴趣的题目，毕业论文是个浩大的工程，要是不能写自己想写的，相信我，在这漫长的写作时间里，你会相当痛苦的。
2，题目不能太大，也不能太小，否则不好驾驭。最好是那种“从小角度看大问题”的题目。例如，我写喜福会这部电影，电影体现了中美文化差异，分别有婚姻观，家庭教育观等。但是我以一部电影为出发点，这个角度就比较小。话说中西方文化的差异实在太多了，但是我只从喜福会这部电影出发，所以范围就缩小了。再者，没什么人写这个电影，所以也不容易和别人雷同，不是被写滥了的题目。
3，这个题目是好找资料的，毕竟是本科论文，不是研究生或是博士的论文，写作水平有限，平时最多写写几百字的作文忽然要写几千字，想必是非常困难的。所以内容不可能完完全全出自“自己”，于是就要大量的从网上，参考书上，图书馆搬来。所以最好就是找参考资料比较多的题目，切忌是参考，不是照搬，可以PARAPHRASE里面的内容到自己的论文。

Distance Learning This paper will summarize two articles on distance learning and give the author ‟ s views on the benefits and obstacles of implementing distance-learning in a junior and senior high school learning environment. Jeannette McDonald, in her article: Is “ As good as face -to-face ” as good as it gets? (2002), raises a very important question as to whether “ [the] goal [of online learning should be] to meet existing standards of traditional education ” (McDonald, 2002) or “ has distance learning, and especially online education opened the door to enhanced strategies in teaching and learning ” (McDonald, 2002)? Online learning may just be “ doing different things ” (McDonald, 2002). What are these different things? Jeannette McDonald claims that “ distance education can be a frontier for new methods of communication giving rise to innovative teaching and learning practices that may not be possible in traditional, place-bound education ” (2002). The article discusses both the positive and “ potential negative impacts of online education ” (McDonald, 2002). There are many benefits to using online distance learning environments. Online education is available “ anyplace, anytime [for] global communities of lea rners based on shared interests” (McDonald, 2002). Jeannette McDonald claims that “ online education [with its] group-based instruction [and] computer mediated communication (CMC) provides an opportunity for new development and understanding in teaching and learning ” (2002). CMC encourages “ collaborative learning [by not providing] cues regarding appearance, race, gender, education, or social status bestowing a sort of anonymity to participants ” (McDonald, 2002). Distance also “ permits the expression of emotion (both positive and negative) and promotes discussion that normally would be inhibited. Jeannette McDonald claims that “ online education has the potential to achiever all of these practices ” (2002).
