我周围很多朋友对待看电影就想吃鱼，只爱吃龙骨周围的大肉，吃完了也就大概知道鱼肉的味道了。可我看电影喜欢吃鱼刺，那才是精髓所在，才是我的乐趣所在。
回到主题，故事发生在阿富汗，用的是中国人最喜欢的插叙的手法，由一个电话开始，故事回到1963年的阿富汗富家公子（Amir）和家里仆人的小男孩（哈 山）放风筝。总是Amir放风筝并与别的小孩逗风筝，当风筝线断了以后哈山总是在第一时间为Amir捡回来风筝。
哈山对Amir说：为了你，无论何时何地 我都会为你把风筝找回来。哈山没有受过教育却特别喜欢听Amir讲故事，即使一个听了50遍的故事，他相信Amir总有一天能成为一个作家。
当街头流氓总是找Amir麻烦的时候，哈山总是拿着一把弹弓挡在Amir的前面，即使对方身强力壮，人数众多。当Amir与哈山赢得了一个当地的风筝大赛后，Amir让哈山去把那个象征着胜利的风筝捡回来时，哈山受到当地流氓的XXOO（我觉得这段使整个剧情的转折点）。
然而Amir看到流氓欺负哈山却没有勇气站出来帮助他，而是选择了逃避。当Amir栽赃与哈山，说他偷了自己的手表的时候，哈山选择了沉默与离开。
