It is a story about a professional killer and a 14-year-old girl. In my opinion, this film reflects the influence of hope in people's lives. Life is a magic thing. It is like a thick forest and when we walk through it, we need hope to lead us. Hope can change one's mind. Hope can change one's life.The first reason is the change between the settings from the beginning to the end. The film began with the oppressive cityscapes: roads, streets, alleys and then the screen turned dark. They are the characteristics of Film Noir. Besides, the protagonist Leon appeared from a black shot which is a special close-up. In addition, the following shot are fighting in some rooms. The whole beginning leads to a mood of cold and oppression. However, at the end of the film is a scene of orphanage. The sunshine illuminated the trees and the grass. The scene is bright and warm. Then the shot got far and far. This showed that life was going on and the sunshine brought us hope to live. The world turned peace again, and the mood turned soft and cozy. Therefore, the change of the beginning and the end showed the dark had gone and everyone got their hope. In this film, there is a symbol of hope-Leon's evergreen. It ran through the whole film. The protagonist Leon, at fist, was a typical killer who was skillful and cold. The evergreen for him is the hope of life. It meant Leon's valuable memory-the girl he loved. Everyday he cleaned the leaves of the evergreen carefully. He thought the evergreen was quiet and happy, so he took care of it as his most valuable thing. Actually, he lived in his memory and what he must protect is the hope-evergreen. For Leon, there was no meaning of the reality until he met the girl –Mathilda. When the girl implored Leon to open the door, he hesitated. Yes, of course. It was because everything would change since he opened the door. Actually, Leon was a simple, kind and attentive man who was not good at express himself. We can know that from watching old movie and ironing clothes. After accepting the girl, Leon chose the responsibility in his heart. His life changed because his hope changed. His living purpose was to protect the girl and revenge on Stan. Furthermore, his good-side was stimulated by the girl's love. They were interdependent as a special relationship. I fact, Leon was not a killer any more since he met Mathilda. He was a real man. Another hope is reflected by Mathilda's attitude of life. Mathilda's family was inharmonious. She couldn't feel love in this family, so she became unyielding and mature at an early age. She hated her relatives except her little brother. If she didn't met Leon, her life would be out of imagination. When Leon opened the door, a light shone on Mathilda. This light of life is a symbol of change. Since she lived with Leon, she felt care from Leon, and she fell in love with him. She wanted to be with him forever. The hope of her life is Leon. She took care of their“home”and took care of him. When Leon ordered her go, she was in agony. She knew that she wouldn't see him again. She was afraid that the hope of life would disappear. At last, she planted the evergreen near the orphanage, and the evergreen became her hope. She got a new view of this world, and she would cherish the memory of Leon who saved her life and soul. This story is a fairy tale of killer. The killer managed to protect his hope as the expanse of his life, whereas he died in comfort. Maybe, there is another dark world concealed near us. However, it is because the shine of hope has not illuminated it. And the meaning of life is the process of seeking hope.。

A dream isn't the one that you make every night or like a daydream. It's the one that you can realize in many years. It may be that I'll possess a big fortune, or I want to be a famous writer and so on. In a word, you must have a goal, which lets you make progresses constantly. Actually, the most important work is not having a goal but how to stick to it. Most people haven't a determination to finish what they have promised. What for? I think there are two reasons for it. First, the goal is too big to complete it. You should make a appropriate goal, which it is more likely to realize. Second, you haven't a reasonable plan for your goals. You'd better make it carefully. For instance, as a college student, you want to get a good job after graduation. So your four years' plan should be made. He is so busy that he has no time to call for damages when he was crashed by a car. Fortunately, he finally succeeds. As a student, we should seize on the expensive time. Let's begin from now on. In the old time, the man that was full of encouragement in the war was respectful, and they were called hero. However, you can't become that kind of man in this peace world. But if you have a remarkable skill, which nobody can match, you also can be a hero. It's another kind of hero. Maybe the later one is more difficult to become. It doesn't exactly sound like a recipe for cinematic success. Remarkably, Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, Heaven) has pulled it off, creating a film that overcomes its more awkward elements to be a visually impressive, highly unusual period thriller. If you've read Patrick Süskind's 1985 novel, doubtless you'll recollect its opening pages, where the profound stink of eighteenth century Europe is described and the protagonist, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is born to his fish vendor mother, amid the guts and heads of a Paris fish market, "the most putrid spot in all the kingdom". Tykwer doesn't immediately take us to this scenario, but after a short prologue showing the grown-up Grenouille in chains and on his way to the scaffold, he unleashes the full glory of a splendidly yucky cinematic realisation of said birth scene. In the light of the usual tone of period dramas, it's refreshingly foul. The first half of the film is defined by this grot as Jean-Baptiste is sent to an orphanage, where he grows up an odd child who unnerves the other children - as we're informed in the extensive narration provided by John Hurt. If you're of the school of thought that insists a good movie shouldn't use voice over, perhaps Perfume isn't for you, as much of the film relies on it, in part due to Grenouille not being much of a talker. Instead, he sniffs his way around the world, his sense of smell so acute he can identify pretty much any creature or substance within a large vicinity. After being sold to a tanner, he grows up into the appropriately wiry Ben Winshaw, who gives a gripping performance even if his delivery is a tad dubious. Grenouille discovers the full panoply of scents on his first trip into the centre of Paris. He's drawn to a perfumer's shop, but then lured away by the scent of a beautiful young girl (Herfurth) selling plums. She becomes his first kill, almost by accident, and his lifelong obsession - the scent of her body is the most intoxicating he's experienced. When happenstance brings him into contact with the once famous but faded perfumier Baldini (Hoffman, doing the film's only American accent), Grenouille so impresses him with his uncanny skills, he takes him on as an apprentice. This leads to him travelling to the perfume capital of Grasse in Provence, where he learns other techniques, which he then starts to exploit in his attempts to capture the elusive ideal scent of feminine youth and beauty. So begins his serial killing, and a new, ongoing mania for another beauty - Laura (Hurd-Wood), the daughter of a rich merchant, Richis (Rickman). In the process, we learn some fascinating details about the production of perfumes - which involve notes and chords, like music. We're also introduced to a fabulous bit of psychopathology - Grenouille is half super-canine, half-superhuman nutter, whose powers enable him to manipulate people, though he's entirely without moral constraint or purpose. As such, he's a force, a power. The film closes in 1766, and it would be nice to read the culmination of his ambitions as in some way having an influence on French society, then starting to ferment and build towards revolution. It's probably reaching, but either way, the prior scenes of him manipulating a mob in the most extreme ways are an example of his remarkable abilities. The film plays around nicely with conventions, so when Grenouille first follows the plum seller, the musical cues are pure romance. However, it's not love for the girl our weird antihero feels, it's love for her smell. The whole endeavour is like a grotesque romance, as his obsessions move him on to his infatuation with Laura. Tykwer slyly shoots it as if she's gazing at him, or moving towards him, but he's actually hidden, and while she's oblivious, he's savouring her scent. The film does suffer from some pacing issues during its 140 minute running time. However, even when the story is dragging, the film is so visually rich, it retains a pull. The $50 million budget is certainly up there on the screen, with wonderful production design, and cinematography by Tykwer's regular collaborator Frank Griebe. The first hour is amazing for its visions of old bridges packed with decrepit buildings and streets paved with filth. Grasse, on the other hand, introduces a blaze of colour, with lavender fields and the town itself lit by the Provencal sun. It's a beautiful, bright backdrop for 。
