Robert Zemeckis (of Back to the Future fame) has collected another feather for his cap with his direction of this movie starring Tom Hanks as this childishly naive idiot savant. Though that description of Forrest Gump might be inadequate. Gump, gifted with a low IQ which lets him be adorably childlike even as he grows up, leads a very charmed life: a mother who loves him immensely and who sleeps with the school principal in order to make sure her child has the best education, a miraculous incident that eliminates the need for him to have braces for his legs, a childhood girlfriend who remains faithful to him till the end, surviving Vietnam with a medal, and, in general, a propensity for turning everything that happens to him into good. I wonder what the movie is trying to say. From one perspective, it implies that intelligence (as measured by IQs and the general idea of what "smart" is) is a very unnecessary trait. But I think one can look beyond that and say that childlike innocence, which can be considered stupid, has its rewards. Throughout the movie, Gump is in situations where he is harassed by other people but he never takes offense (except, of course, when his girl Jenny is being abused) at any of the insults thrown at him. He is indeed not completely stupid, even though he is portrayed as such, since he can re-assemble guns at high speed, run like crazy, play ping-pong like a maniac, and so on. The fact that Gump doesn't take offense, I think, is what keeps him content. He becomes a millionaire, but gives most of the money away. He is honest and open and this, along with his Alabama accent, endears him to the audience. But this gets tiresome after a while (especially after 2 hours). I thought the movie was overly long, but that's the only negative thing I have to say. Gump rubs elbows with many famous personalities over the last half of the century including Elvis Presley and Nixon, thanks to computer technology (General Dan doesn't really lose his legs either---they are just erased and the background is then touched up by using computer graphics programs). The account of how Gump is responsible for the gyrations that is so characteristic of Presley is very telling of the motives of this movie. Gump is contrasted to the famous males, who are idols (in some cases) in today's society, and it appears as though he is better off in comparison: Gump's choices in life seem to determine his niceness (he goes to Vietnam, keeps his promises ("a promise is a promise"), harbours no ill-feelings or grudges, and is not greedy with fame or money) and successes. Contrast this to the choices his lifetime girl friend Jenny makes: she wants to be famous and rich, but ends up being a druggie. The people she is surrounded by are all of a dubious nature: a sexually-abusive father, a show audience more interested in her naked body than her folk-music playing, and an abusive hippie-boyfriend. The traditional male heroes that we have had are all dysfunctional in some respect or another and we are lost without heroes, as Bloom points out. Gump is a new kind of a role-model; he's A Nice Boy and everyone knows they're hard to find. As one reviewer said: "Today the last American hero is a Tom Hanks character with a small IQ". Forrest Gump is the runaway hit movie of this summer. Many people claim it gets them in touch with their "inner child". Some reviewers attack it for the view that low IQ is a necessity for maintaining the child-like attitude Gump has. Gump never grows up or matures in the movie. He never becomes a man and remains a boy throughout. It is implied, at least, that his "stupidity" is what allows him to do this. This may or may not be true, but it is just a movie in the end. Most people in his position would not be so fortunate as he. And what about the converse: if you are intelligent, does this mean you cannot be child-like forever? That's not true, and I think Zemeckis did a good job in showing that anyone can retain their inner child as long they never grow up or become mature.。

Robert Zemeckis (of Back to the Future fame) has collected another feather for his cap with his direction of this movie starring Tom Hanks as this childishly naive idiot savant. 7.

Forrest Gump, sitting at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia , watches as a white feather falls to his feet. Forrest picks up the feather and puts it in a book he is carrying , then begins to tell the story of his life to a woman who sits next to him. As his story progresses, the listeners at the bus stop change regularly throughout his narration, each showing a different attitude ranging from disbelief and indifference to great interest and fascination. Although Forrest has well below average intelligence, his mother is able to get him into a public school - by sleeping with the principal. On his first day of school, he meets a girl named Jenny whose life at times is followed in parallel to Forrest's. Having discarded his leg braces, (used to straighten his spine) his ability to run incredibly fast gets him into college on a football scholarship. After his college graduation, he enlists in the army . There he makes friends with Bubba, who convinces him to enter the shrimping business with him when the Vietnam War is over. He also meets Jenny again, when he sees her in Playboy Magazine. He then goes to find her, and discovers that she is a stripper working at a bar. Forrest Forrest and Bubba are sent to Vietnam, and after several months of patrolling with the 9th Infantry Division their platoon is attacked. Though Forrest rescues many of the men in his unit, Bubba is killed in action , and Lt. Dan is wounded in both legs requiring amputation. ForrestForrest is wounded during the battle, and is awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism. Forrest discovers an uncanny ability for ping-pong while in recovery for the bullet wound in his buttocks. He starts playing for the US Army team, gaining popularity and rising to celebrity status. He eventually plays competitively against Chinese teams and wins against the Chinese. At an anti-war rally in Washington, DC Forrest reunites with Jenny, who has been living a hippie counterculture lifestyle while Forrest was away, and became engaged with another man. Upon leaving military service and returning home, Forrest endorses a company that makes ping-pong paddles for a fee of $25,000. He uses the money to buy a shrimping boat and fulfill his wartime promise to Bubba. His commanding officer from Vietnam, Lieutenant Dan Taylor, joins him as first mate as a joking promise he made to Forrest. Initially Forrest has little success, but after finding his is the only surviving boat in the area after Hurricane Carmen hits the Gulf states, he begins to pull in huge amounts of shrimp. He buys an entire fleet of shrimp boats, and "Bubba-Gump" shrimp becomes a household name. He returns home when his mother falls ill; she dies soon after. Lt. Dan takes over operations of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and invests the earnings in Apple Computer and Forrest, Dan and Bubba's families are financially secure for the rest of their lives. One day, Jenny returns to visit Forrest, and after some time he proposes marriage to her. She declines, though feels obliged to prove her love to him by sleeping with him. She leaves early the next morning. On a whim, Forrest elects to go for a run. Seemingly capriciously, he decides to keep running across the country several times, over some three and a half years, becoming famous again. In the present day, 1981 , Forrest reveals that he is waiting at the bus stop because he received a letter from Jenny who, having seen him run on television, asks him to visit her. Once he is reunited with Jenny, Forrest discovers she has a young son, also named Forrest, of whom Forrest is said to be the father. Jenny tells Forrest she is suffering from an unknown virus which has no known cure, that she will soon die of. Together the three move back to Greenbow, Alabama where Jenny and Forrest finally marry.Jenny dies soon afterward, leaving their son in Forrest's care. He talks to Jenny's grave and tells her how well their son is doing in school. On his son's first day of school, Forrest sits with him at the school bus stop. Opening the book his son is taking to school, the feather Forrest put there falls out. As the bus pulls away, he watches as the feather is caught by a breeze and drifts skyward. Forrest Gump is one of the best film of all time. Definitely the best Zemeckis's work so far and he has put so much soul and depth to this 1994 Academy Award winning Best Picture. This movie portrays the life of a slow-witted character who gets embroiled in various ridiculous situations. He was a Vietnam war hero, received a congressional medal of honour, shook hands with many US Presidents and was a successful owner of a shrimp company. We get to。

The Feminism Reflected in the Novel Forrest Gump The commercials for Forrest Gump make it look like the sort of movie described as "wonderful" and "heartwarming"; fortunately, it's better than that. I had read the book, by Winston Groom, and hoped the movie wouldn't lose the engaging voice of the novel -- the voice of Forrest Gump (IQ 75), a simple-minded, good-hearted Southern boy whose life is a series of whimsical, mildly satirical episodes. As it happens, Tom Hanks, as Gump, narrates the movie from a bus-stop bench and delivers many of Groom's best lines. The script isn't as funny as the novel -- the film's Gump isn't as much of a screw-up as the book's Gump -- but it's funny enough, and sometimes it hits daring notes. When Gump tells us that his childhood sweetheart Jenny is lucky to have a father who kisses and touches her and her sisters all the time, the line is funny because it's exactly what the innocent Gump would assume. But it's also not funny. It's these examples of Gump's trusting nature being utterly inaccurate that save Forrest Gump from being mush. The movie, directed by Robert Zemeckis (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), isn't meant to be taken literally; like many enchanting films, it falls apart under close scrutiny. Most people, though, won't have the heart to scrutinize it, and, aside from a few minor complaints, I see no need to, either. Its flaws don't do it any great harm; it's as comforting as an afternoon nap, but also as refreshing, and it's going to be a big hit. Forrest Gump creates its own floating reality, and the problem many critics have with this is that it deals, in large part, with actual historical events (much of the film addresses Vietnam and the peace movement). The movie is meant to be American history as seen through the eyes of a man who understands very little of what he sees. And he speaks for people who can't make any more sense of the last three decades than he can. In other words, Forrest Gump -- America considered through a folksy, satirical lens -- will annoy those who prefer their satire with a harder edge (i.e., satire that punctures the "correct" targets). The movie has drawn fire for being reactionary, and it may well become a favorite of conservatives, but I think that has more to do with what didn't survive the transition from book to movie (Groom's satire was more even-handed) because of time limitations. For example, the radical hippies of the peace movement are presented as slimy, predatory womanizers who slap their girlfriends around (one guy even does this and then blames it on "that goddamn Johnson"). But talk to some women who remember those days and they'll tell you this isn't far from the truth: The "sexual revolution" turned out to be a new, hip variation on the time-honored male ploy to get women to spread their legs, and we're still paying for it. The critics who want to be intellectually one up on the large, stupid wad of Americans who embrace this film are attacking the wrong movie for the wrong reasons. Forrest Gump, a proudly square fantasia, has much more to offer than a likable but coldly hip critics' darling like Four Weddings and a Funeral, and certainly more than the recent crop of hip movies that don't ask you to feel anything -- The Shadow, Wyatt Earp, The Crow, The Flintstones, and on and on. Almost 25 years ago, Pauline Kael wrote that the then-popular movie Joe (another counter-counterculture hit, all but forgotten today) could easily be turned into a Saturday-morning cartoon, and the episodic, virtually plotless Forrest Gump would also be ideal ("Gump Plays Football," "Gump Goes to Vietnam," "Gump Starts a Shrimping Business"). At two hours and twenty-two minutes, the movie is an epic ramble, with characters disappearing and reappearing as the story requires. Gump is a safe guide through the tumult of the '60s, the absurdity of the '70s, and the greed of the '80s. Jenny (played in adulthood by Robin Wright), on the other hand, seems to experience everything terrible about those decades: drugs, soulless sex, more abuse, more drugs, and one final pitfall that isn't in the book. Letting her pristine features collapse into numbness, Wright fleshes out Jenny's self-disgust. This masochistic woman isn't ready for Gump, who, in his infinite kindness, wants only to love her. She embodies American disillusionment, and she will probably make a lot of feminists foam at the mouth. I can't say I disagree; the book's Jenny certainly wasn't this self-hating (she was, in fact, more of a free spirit like Gump). Gump flies through the decades with nary a scratch, but a vague, doomy cloud hangs over poor Jenny, who。

[阿甘正传观后感论文]"Life is like a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you\'re going to get.

-------------Life like is the a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get this sentence from Forrest Gump's mother always make me moved.I told my friends, 《Forrest Gump》 is my favorite movie which I have seen too times. I am really moved not only by the real life of American people that time, more than that, by the confidence and courage given by Gump\'s mother. She could sacrifice anything to make her son understand the meaning of life and make him believe he is like anyone else. Forrest complicated life which from being a student to a soldier, from a football player to a fisher, from famous to normal. He always kept a stable attitude to all of this, never changed by the environment and things happened around him. You can find confidence in his eyes all the time. because he always remember that his mother said: Life like is the a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to getHe experienced losing his friend, failing in love, leaving his mother, which I think are the most attacked pains in life. However, he never gave up the courage indeed, he lived better, I mean, in his heart absolutely.Stupid is as stupid does. being stupid sometimes make us far away from the complicated relationship between people and can give us a chance to think about our life, to give some thoughts to our future. Every one has his day. Life is a gift and we should not intend on wasting it.-----------阿甘有自己的坚持,他不断地跑步,JUST RUNS.
